For those arriving by car, Loughborough University is well sign-posted. If travelling to Loughborough via the M1 motorway, leave at junction 23 and follow the signs for Loughborough along the Ashby Road passing the campus on the right. At first roundabout turn right onto the Holiwell Way and left the visitor entrance. Stop at the gatehouse to obtain a parking permit.

For those arriving by train, there is normally a good taxi service. Alternatively, a bus shuttle service departs from Loughborough Station every 10 minutes (Kinchbus No 7, Monday-Saturday between 07.30 and 18.30 hrs). The bus stops in the Town Centre outside the Griffin Inn at the top of Market Street and continues past the School of Art and Design (LUSAD) entering the University campus on Epinal Way. It travels along University Road, which bisects the campus along its length, and stops outside the Mechanical Engineering Department opposite to the Institute of Polymer Technology & Materials Engineering and returns to the Rail Station by the same route.

The Advanced Thermal Analysis Laboratories are rooms S1.45 and S1.46 on the ground floor of IPTME - from the main entrance take the corridor on the right beyond the caretaker's office and X-ray laboratory. S1.46 is the third room on the left after the fire doors.
